Installment 9

As you have noticed, we are covering topics from the arts and crafts, to the business support, to the personal needs.  Let us continue along with our list and your personal quest to find the greatest home based business.  With each installment your creative juices are flowing more and more, it will be a matter of time before you come to find the perfect niche for you and your talents.

Do you have a deep love of children?  No, I am not talking about day care love of kids; I am talking about a safety love of kids.  New parents and those who are a bit rusty on the technology of the new safety devices are always looking for guidance and helpful tips to make their home safe for the new additions in the family.  You need to be able to adapt to new spaces and situations, as well as good interacting with people and having a genuine interest in kids to succeed. 

Many happy parents will be one of the best forms of advertising for this business.  Those happy parents are also likely to have company over to admire the new baby that makes it very easy to have word of mouth advertising.  Being on top of technology and keeping up to date on the new methods of childproofing are a definite requirement for this.

Do you enjoy worrying about every single detail when there is a party to be planned?  If you enjoy basking in the joy and heartache of planning a party then your niche can be in helping others enjoy a party while taking the hassle off of their shoulders.  Party planners are in high demand, especially by those looking for perfection parties, and where there are large guest lists. 

Party planning can range from planning a pre-school birthday party up to planning a 50^th wedding anniversary.  This is a business that can keep most party planners very busy.  Parties can range from the small and cozy to the large and ritzy depending upon the clients preferences.

A step above and beyond the party planner we move to the ultimate party planner.  A wedding planner helps people make the best day of their life as stress free and wonderful as possible.  Weddings are a time when people should be able to enjoy themselves and celebrate their love for their loved ones.  However, everyone who has been a party to a wedding is aware of all the details involved in a standard wedding. 

While weddings can be as simple or as elegant as the bride and groom choose, the bride and groom typically need some form of help in wadding through all of the choices and details involved.  Being able to put nervous brides and grooms at ease is a very high demand skill.  With reasonable prices and great people skills, a talented and organized wedding planner can become very successful quite quickly.

Are you good at making complex school subjects seem easy?  If this sounds like you then being a tutor is an option.  Choose a specific subject and age range to be more specialized, or else be a general tutor who helps those of all ages and subjects.  Parents who have struggling students are always looking for help for their children.  Places like Sylvan Learning charge a lot of money for their services. 

While their services are quite effective from what I have heard, they are also very expensive.  Most parents simply cannot afford to maintain their child’s attendance in such programs for very long.  However, most kids who require tutoring need some long term tutoring.  This means that those who charge much lower fees due to greatly reduced overhead expenses are able to maintain a very busy schedule and help kids succeed where they have been struggling.

Does your heart sing music?  If you are musically inclined and have a great love of music and a passion to share your loves then teaching music something to consider.  I personally took piano lessons when I was younger at a woman’s home once a week.  I loved it, and my understanding was that was the woman’s sole source of income. 

Perhaps piano is not your instrument, maybe flute, cello or violin are your talent.  If you are willing to work with kids and teenagers then you are more likely to stay busy.  Beware of the kids who are forced to take the lessons.  If you are lucky, your time will be mostly booked with kids and adults who choose to take the lessons, thereby making your job much easier and rewarding.

Do you enjoy decorating?  Do you just relish in the joys of decorating yet another room in the house?  If paint samples belong all over, your dining room table instead of packed away then perhaps interior decorating is a great profession for you.  Interior decorators do everything from paint, to furniture, to drapes and other more elaborate window treatments. 

Many people who are happy with the work of a designer will happily return when they need the next room of their house redecorated.  The ability to stay up to date on the fashion and design changes are very important.  Strong people skills are also necessary to be successful, the ability to calm the fears of nervous homeowners.
