Rent or Buy the Tux?

One of the most important times in a guy’s life is when he is getting married.  One of the biggest things the groom needs to worry about is planning the honeymoon, and getting the tuxedo.  Ok there are other details as well, but those are the two biggest tasks the groom has before the wedding.

Deciding on whether to rent or buy the tuxedo should be determined on several factors.  Including, are you ever likely to wear it again after the wedding?  Do you have personal reasons to prefer a new tuxedo, over a used one.  Obviously, those with serious skin issues should highly consider purchasing so they can have it cleaned so they will not have any allergic reactions to it.

If you are someone who will be wearing a tuxedo for various occasions then it is probably a good idea to spring the extra money to just purchase the jacket and pants.  The shirt is up to personal discretion on whether to purchase or rent.  Accessories, such as the vest should probably just be rented, because most occasions would involve a different color vest involved depending upon the color scheme of the event.

It is quite possible if you shop early and wisely, to find a great tuxedo at a great price if you want to buy.  Just tonight, we were at the mall and one of the tuxedo shops was offering a great price of certain tuxedo’s for only $179.99.  This is not a bad price considering that it costs almost $100 just for the standard tuxedo rental.

Consider that it would only take two tuxedo rentals to come out cheaper buying than renting.  However, if you plan on losing a lot of weight, gaining weight or otherwise changing the shape of your body massively then purchasing will not be a good idea, your tuxedo would no longer fit after just a short period of time.

Always remember to shop around and look for the best deal on the style that you prefer.  Remember that while you will not wear the tuxedo daily, you do want something that will be very comfortable, with no irritation or pinching.  For your wedding you want to be as comfortable as possible, so if this means spending a few extra bucks you should happily do so.

Just ensure that you check the color scheme with the bride before making any final decisions on what color and style.  It is best for everyone to match and coordinate to ensure that everyone looks his or her best.
