Best Spots to Propose in Chattanooga

As Valentine’s Day draws near, people start turning mushy and romantic.  Many people become engaged in the splendor of Valentine’s Day and are quite happy with their decision as long as it is something that they have carefully selected a wonderful location and have planned a romantic night.

In the Chattanooga area, there numerous scenic views that offer a very romantic view and make a great place to propose.   I am going to briefly list some of the best choices and give the reasons why they make a great place.

Great Spot #1. Chattanooga has a wonderful little dinner cruise ship called the Southern Belle.  This is a paddleboat that looks classic and timeless.  They offer lunch and dinner cruises with a meal and the time to stroll around the decks and watch the views as you drift down the water.  This is a beautiful ship and a great place to propose for those who have a love of boats.  There is just something incredibly romantic about having dinner on a boat floating around in the middle of the river, and being able to stroll around the deck in the moonlight and look into each others eyes.  Prices do vary for the cruises, partly based upon what is on the dinner menu, but this is a great treat that most women especially love.  Dress tends to be on the semi-formal side, which makes a more formal approach to a proposal quite appropriate.

Great Spot #2.  Right outside of Chattanooga, on the top of Lookout Mountain is a great botanical garden perched on the side of the mountain.  Rock City is a beautiful place that offers gorgeous plants, wonderful wildlife, and incredible scenic views.  The most romantic place to propose along the path is Lover’s Leap.  From the edge of lover’s leap there is a huge waterfall running underneath providing soothing sounds, as well as a view of the entire city of Chattanooga that is stunning and breathless to say the least.  A wonderful choice for the adventurous couple to remember their proposal.  Great views are just incredible, especially if you bring along a camera to capture the incredible views that accompany that special moment in your life to the fullest extent.  Prices for admission to Rock City vary depending upon season; also, if you are a resident of the area, a membership grants you a much cheaper admission.  Stop by the fudge shop at the entrance, so that you can sweeten the pot with some of her favorite fudge for that special moment.  Even consider taking the ring and pressing it into the fudge as long as you are careful for a truly special fudge experience.

Great Spot #3.  Chattanooga has been recently revitalizing the downtown experience for residents and tourist alike.  As a part of that revitalization, they have renovated an old bridge and converted it into a walking bridge.  This bridge connects Downtown Chattanooga to the North end of town crossing the Tennessee River.  Running approximately half a mile from end to end, this bridge offers incredible views of the Art Museum, Coolidge Park, as well as the Aquarium.  Who knows a peek at the Southern Belle as it is docked is possible, as well as the possibility to see the Southern Belle as it floats by underneath the bridge.  Great news about the bridge is it is free, as well as surrounded by plenty of parking and a great selection of restaurants so you can enjoy an entire evening out.

Great Spot #4.  Do you enjoy the idea of taking an exotic trip and scouring the ocean looking for the best-looking reefs and most colorful fish?  If so, consider going to the Saltwater Aquarium.  On the bottom level of the aquarium, you are able to walk underneath the massive six story saltwater tank and look up and watch the fish swimming overhead as the sharks circle the tank.  This is an incredible sight for those who relish the idea of being at the mercy of sharks and taking in the breathtaking view of watching thousands of fish swim by.  Prices vary, however for best viewing I would recommend going while school is in session during the morning hours.  This gives less traffic to obstruct your view and private moment, while still leaving plenty of time for a romantic lunch, and even a grand dinner date before calling to make your announcement to friends and family.

Great Spot #5.  Ruby Falls features massive underground waterfalls and intricate paths inside the caves.  For the thrill seeker this is also a wonderful place to get engaged.  How many people become engaged underground?  If the possibility of this appeals to you, or you think your potential fiancé would flip for this, it is located very closely to Rock City atop scenic Lookout Mountain.  Dress warmly, and avoid heels and a tuxedo, since it is underground a bit of dirt is always possible, as are slippery paths.  However, it is something that would be quite unique.

Great Spot #6.  Are you a baseball fan?  If so perhaps Bellsouth Park is your perfect location.  The park is home to the Chattanooga Lookouts minor league baseball team.  With spacious seating close to the river, this is also located close to a great many fabulous restaurants, as well as elegant hotels.  This is sure to be a winner in the book of baseball fans who have dreamed of proposing on a baseball diamond.

Whether you are a thrill seeker or a hopeless romantic, Chattanooga has a great location that is sure to make your proposal the most memorable event in your life.  A great proposal site is always something you will remember and treasure forever, just make sure you take the ring along and try to remain calm and enjoy the happiness of the moment.
