ITT Technical Institute Online Program

I am currently a second year student through ITT Technical Institute Online Program based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.  I have thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience as a tranditional brick school was not an option for me, with my work schedule and children it was not feasible for me to fight with traffic to drive to and from school, while rearranging a work schedule around my classes for each term.

ITT offers a unique experience in that they are a true school, who is not a scam or just out to make money while leaving you with nothing, unlike many of the other online schools I had checked out before enrolling through ITT.  I have been very happy with the services, as well as the overall attitude and quality of the staff.  They are quick to help, and very quick to pass you along to the next person in command if the person you are speaking to is not able to resolve your problem.

I have been a student of home based schooling off and on my entire life, since I was home schooled for much of my elementary school years, and again the last year of High School, however this is so rewarding and flexible.  I log into the classes on Monday and submit the work when I have the time to fit it in, even if that means at 2a.m. in the morning, or 2p.m. in the afternoon while the kids are napping.  Flexibility like this just is not found in the traditional schools.

While I have enjoyed my experiences with ITT I have had my share of disappointments, I do think the math class that I completed was much harder that it would be in a traditional school because of the fact that math is so hard for some people to grasp when someone is right there to walk them through it every step of the way, when you take math and move it online, it makes it even harder at times.  This has caused me great concern as I struggled to complete the class, however it’s the worst class I have had so far, and my dislike of math has not disappeared in the meantime.

The only other bad thing that I do have to say I dislike is the class schedule to an extent.  They break down the school year into quarters, however to make it easier and geared more towards the working adults you only take three classes each quarter.  Two of the classes last six weeks, while the other lasts 11 weeks.  While you are taking the one class for eleven weeks, you are taking one of the six-week classes at the same time; once one six-week class is completed, you start the next.  This is great, except with this schedule there is no summer break!

Other than the summer break misfortune, I am extremely happy with my online college experience and am looking forward to September of 2009 when I will finally be able to say I have completed school, and can hold my degree up high and be proud.
