Should I Consider A Vasectomy?

Some Guidelines for help men decide for themselves if this procedure is right for them.

Men often times consider a vasectomy to be the end of the world, or their manhood being robbed, but it is possible to overcome those fears and have a safe, successful procedure that will not break the bank, or leave a partner feeling left out in the cold.  There are some guidelines that each man should think about before making this decision and consider thoroughly since it is such a personal decision

Consideration #1.  Your age.  In general, most doctors will not perform a vasectomy on a very young man unless they have some horrible awful genetic defect that can cause huge problems if they have children.  They prefer patients to be old enough to have enough medical advice before making this decision that they will not regret it the day after.  Many young men are unsure of what they desire in the way of families and children until after they are older and have had a chance to settle down.  Because of these reasons, many doctors will not perform a vasectomy on young males.  Call the doctor you are considering using and ask their personal policies regarding age.

Consideration #2.  You should discuss your consideration with your partner.  If you are in a long term relationship, whether it is a partner or you are married you should discuss with your partner the fact that you are considering a vasectomy.  They have a right to know what your feelings are.  While ultimately the decision to go forth or change your mind is up to you, it can help to find out their opinion and take it into consideration.

Consideration #3.  Children.  Before you consider a vasectomy you need to make sure, you have all the children you want.  If you have any thoughts in the back of your mind, way deep down inside that you want more children then you should think very hard about a vasectomy.  Men should only consider a vasectomy once they are positive they do not want any more children, if you do want children again in the future, then a vasectomy is definitely not the procedure for you, and you should look into short-term protection methods.

Consideration #4.  Spontaneity.  If you would like the ability to be completely spontaneous without having to worry about pregnancy then a vasectomy may be a wonderful choice for you.  Without the worry of pregnancy, many couples are able to reconnect and have fun like never before.
